iPhone 6 Water Damage

My camera app still opens. When it opens I just get a blank, black screen. I can switch between front and back camera. What should I do?

Most likely the faulty part of the camera is the IC chip. This is part of a screen repair but fortunately the IC is a part that can be replaced on the front assembly.

This problem is usually caused by the filter. There is a filter between the loudspeaker and the louspeaker housing.

You can either buy a new filter. Or you can remove the filter and soak it to clear out any gunk.

Replace the filter and the issue should be resolved.

If your phone is under warranty, you may want to take this problem to an Apple Store.

Ever since my iPhone 6 had a replacement screen (after I dropped it) the front and back camera do not work. Both cameras worked prior to the screen change. I’ve checked both camera cables and also changed the front camera but it’s still not working.

When the screen was replaced, the front connectors may have been accidentally shorted. Having the front connectors unplugged with the battery plugged in can easily do this. I’d suggest replacing your U2301 ic component on your logic board.

My iPhone 6 has stopped recognizing my WIFI in my home. My other devices are connected and are in working order. I’ve switched my iPhone WIFI off and on but it just won’t connect.

It sounds like you may have a problem with your router. It could be that you need to add the network manually, if you know the SSID? If that doesn’t solve your issue, maybe you need to replace the router.

I replaced my iPhone 6 screen with no issue. However, it is now not charging more than 14%. Any help much appreciated.

It could be a number of issues

  1. Swap charging cable and see if that is helps.
  2. There maybe something stuck in the lightening jack. Use your SIM pin to carefully check to see if there is something lodged in there, but be careful as there are 5 pins that could get damaged.

Another thing to check is the charging port ribbon cable (near the connector section of the logic board) as that may have been damaged when you replaced the iPhone 6 screen. They can rip or tear very easily.

Don’t try and turn it on this could cause further damage.

Shake the phone and dry it off with an absorbent towel or cloth.

Use this guide to open your device and very, very carefully dry off any excess fluid from inside the phone

If the phone has been submerged it will need a new battery. Replace the battery and put the phone back together.

Now power up the phone. You will need to check the

If you unplug the new home button and use a known good home button you can get the phone to power back on by unplugging the battery for a few seconds, plugging back up and use the home and power button together to get the screen on.

The issue is probably the replacement home button.

Sometimes when a home button is replaced it short circuits the phone.  This doesn’t usually cause any further damage to the phone. The phone turns off and then won’t power on.

You need to get a new home button. Before you plug in the new home button ensure that the phone is on, and the screen is operating. Once you plug in the home button it will work.

I recently changed my iPhone 6 screen. Everything is connected properly inside but the front camera and ear speaker aren’t working properly and now the iPhone gets really hot. I don’t understand why?

Usually when this happens the cables are damaged. If you change the camera and ear speaker cables you should find that everything will work just as new. The problem is that the cables are relatively weak and can get damaged very easily. Cables are cheap ($10)

When I’m using my iPhone 6, it freezes and a gray bar appears on my screen. It used to happen sporadically but now it’s much more frequent. I try to touch the screen but it won’t allow access. I press the home button and the On/Off switch and I have to restart it.

Usually if a gray horizontal bar appears at the top of the screen it’s a Touch IC issue. Unfortunately, this isn’t something that can be done by DIY, it will require someone who is really experienced in replacing Touch IC.

Sometimes if you slightly flex the iPhone it’ll work but it’s just a temporary fix.

To permanently put an end to this problem you should get it fixed by an experienced repair technician.

When I talk to people on my iPhone 6 they can’t hear me, but if I select speaker mode I can be heard. It stops working when I put the iPhone next to my ear and then it switches back to microphone. I have had the screen replaced but no other works.

The microphone, which is used during a phone call, is situated at the bottom of the iPhone. When the iPhone is put into speaker mode it automatically changes to the microphone at your ear speaker. It maybe the case that some dirt is jammed in the holes at the bottom of your iPhone. You can do that carefully remove dirt with the tip of the SIM pin or maybe some canned air.

If that isn’t successful, try a Settings ‘Reset’.

  • Reset All Settings

Alternatively, the screen may not have been properly aligned when you had your screen replacement. If you can be heard very faintly on a call, the microphone has probably been dislodged.
